This week Northwood School has began our comprehensive college planning program for juniors. We met for the first time in December to distribute PSAT scores.
This was the first of eight sessions that I hope will prepare juniors for the application season in their senior year. I distributed the Junior Timeline, gave them an interest inventory designed to get them thinking about college options, and I led a fun activity called “The Great Sorting Game.” Their homework was to complete the interest inventory.
I also gave them access to their Family Connection accounts so that they can begin doing college research, writing a resume and a lot more. Parents also have access to Family Connection. A separate email has been sent with instructions for creating an account and logging in.
Student homework included, creating an account and logging in to Family Connection and the other tasks on “Introduction to Family Connection-Jrs.” Here are some valuable resources from the session.
We meet next in two weeks to discuss Standardized Testing: the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, SAT Subject Tests and AP Exams.
