The Test of English as a Foreign Language, or TOEFL, evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. It sometimes is an admission requirement for non-native English speakers at many English-speaking colleges and universities.

Students who take either the Internet-based TOEFL or paper-based TOEFL will receive a total score as well as TOEFL scores for each section. However, the iBT and PBT have a completely different scoring system. In fact, the highest iBT score is a lower number than the lowest PBT score! Most of our students take the iBT and they take it near Burlington, Vermont or in Potsdam, New York, each about two hours or less from Lake Placid.
