I agree with Pink that the SAT measures skills that, while valuable, aren’t necessarily the most important skills for success in college or in future life.
That’s why I’m encouraged that many colleges and universities emphasize that they review the “complete file” before they make admission decisions. They read the recommendations and the essays, they scrutinize every line of the transcript, and they do their best to get to know the applicant before they decide. The SAT is one criteria they use, and it’s not even one of the most important factors, they say.
That’s what they say they do, and I usually believe them.
